Improve Your Self Confidence In 15 Minutes

I used to be frighteningly under confident in social situations. And although people who know me now would never believe I used to doubt myself so much I literally had to learn confidence until it became a natural part of me. I can tell you relaxed optimistic confidence is just, well so much more fun.

Here I'll tell you about the things that made the most difference to my confidence levels...
Some people have naturally high levels of confidence but everybody can learn to be more confident
Firstly, it's important to get a clear idea of what self confidence really means, otherwise you won't know when you've got it! So, self confidence means:

1) Being calm. For every situation in life you need to run on the appropriate level of emotion. Too much emotional 'leakage' into a experience can spoil the experience. You make great strides towards confidence when you begin to relax in a greater range of situations.

2) Being cool. The second part of self confidence is about being able to relax with uncertainty. To be 'cool' in a situation really means relaxing with not knowing how things will pan out. If you truly tolerate uncertainty, you can do pretty much anything.

3) Not being too concerned with what others think of you. You know when you imagine what some place is going to be like before you go there but when you get there it is totally different to your imagination? That's how reliable your imagination is! Stop trusting your imagination so much. I've long since stopped bothering to imagine what others think of me because so often I've turned out to be wrong.

4) Being specific - where do you want confidence? 'Confidence' is meaningless until you tie it to something specific. You are already confident that you can read these words or can switch a light on and off. So you don't need more confidence everywhere. To get what you want in life you have to establish exactly what you do want. Where do you want confidence in your life? Think about the specific situations now and write them down. You beginning to steer your brain towards confidence.

5) Understanding that what you expect is what you get. Your brain is an organ that needs clear goals to work towards. When a task has been set in your brain it will do everything it can do to bring about the completion of that task. If you've tried to recall someone's name but can't, hours later you'll often find their name pops into your head.
The 'trying to recall' experience set the task or blueprint for your brain's future subconscious behaviour which eventually produced the name for you - when you weren't thinking about it consciously. You can use this natural mechanism to start feeling more confident. But, to ensure you set the right task for your subconscious mind, the next point is vital.

6) Don't task your mind with negatives. Instead of: 'I don't want to screw up' (which sets the task of 'screwing up' for your brain), set the blueprint for what you do want! Your brain doesn't work towards what to do by being told what not to do. And nature has given you a wonderful natural tool to set the right task blueprints with.
7) Use nature's goal-setter: Now you understand how vital it is to set the right task for you brain, you need to know how to do this reliably. Good hypnosis will strongly 'program' the right blueprint in your mind through the use of your imagination. If you powerfully imagine feeling confident and relaxed while in a relaxed hypnotic state it will be hard for your unconscious mind to do anything else. The blueprint for relaxation has been set firmly into your subconscious mind.

3 simple strategies to get you feeling confident quickly:
1) Think specifically of the time/place/situation you want to feel confident in. Remember 'confidence' doesn't mean anything until you attach it to something specific.

2) Focus on words in your mind right now that describe how you do want to be in that time and place. Maybe words such as 'calm', 'relaxed' or 'focused'. Remember your brain works on clear positive instructions.

3) Close your eyes for as long as you like and think about how those words feel. Then, imagine the situation itself and rehearse it in your mind feeling confident and relaxed. This way you set the right blueprint or 'task' for your unconscious mind.

You can repeat this often to make it more effective and use it with as many areas of your life as you need to. If you listen to a hypnotic cd or download that can make the benefits even more powerful (see my profile below). So if you feel like you'd be blessed with less confidence than some other people you can start redressing the balance by using your mind in the right way right now.

Affirmation has been used by successful people for centuries. It has helped many ordinary people achieve
extraordinary results in their lives. It has turned many failures into successes. It has made many miracles happen in the history of human evolution. However, the majority of people who use affirmation find that it doesn’t work. Why is this the case? What are the elements that people have missed when they use affirmation techniques? I constantly ask myself these questions, and seek for the answers. The result is, no one book gives the complete answer. Some tips given in one book work for a specific situation, but not
for others. Other books give other tips that work for other situations, but not for this. I have tested and filtered out the ineffective ones, and left only what I call the ultimate effective technique secrets.

The purpose of affirmation:

Before I give you the effective techniques, I must make you understand the true purpose of affirmation. Simply stated, the purpose of affirmation is to pass a command from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has the ability, in anything it accepts as true, to do whatever it takes to turn it into reality. The purpose of an affirmation is to pass a message to the subconscious mind, and to make it believe the message is true. So this brings us to the first element of an effective affirmation.

1.The affirmation must be believable to the subconscious mind

Most of the affirmations people use, fail at this first stage. They tend to give an unrealistic message to the
subconscious mind, hoping for a positive response. If you are financially broke, and you say to yourself “I earn $100,000 per year”, is this believable to your mind? If your body is totally out of shape, and you say to yourself “I am very attractive”, is this believable to your mind? I doubt it.

What if you are currently broke, and you want to make $100,000 per year? What if you are out of shape, and you want to make yourself attractive? I find the best and easiest way is to use the word “I choose” in your affirmation.

Instead of saying “I earn $100,000 per year.”

Say “I choose to earn $100,000 per year”

Instead of saying “I am very attractive”

Say “I choose to feel that people find me attractive”

Do you feel the difference?

2.The subconscious mind seeks for proof

There is a misconception that the affirmation must be repeated thousands of times before it can be installed in
the subconscious mind. This is not necessarily true. You can use the repetition method to embed your affirmation, but there is an easier way. It is, at the time you find the proof, state your affirmation. Many people stay in poverty because they associate pain with money. Whenever they spend their money, they think of their bills, loans etc. This will automatically lead to ultimate pain. It is the feeling you attach to money that makes you rich or poor.
How can we turn this to our advantage? Instead of feeling pain when spending money, what if we associate pleasure with it? Next time when you go out shopping, at the moment you take out your money or credit card, say this affirmation to yourself “I always have more than enough to spend.”

See how you feel. This works because the subconscious mind sees the proof. As long as you have some money left in your pocket, this affirmation is always true, so the subconscious mind will believe it.

How about if we combine the first and second methods together and make an affirmation like this: “I choose to feel that I always have more than enough to spend.” Say this at the time you spend your money. See how you feel. You don’t have to repeat it thousands of times, a few times of real life proof will make your subconscious mind believe it.

3.The affirmation must trigger feelings

A fact about the subconscious mind is that it does not speak in words, you can only communicate with it through feelings, and emotions. There are two methods that you can use to trigger your feelings. The first method is to use words that involve feelings. Words like “fun, enjoyable, comfortable, delightful” will work effectively. The second method is to use imagination. Visualize that the situation stated in your affirmation has already come true. See yourself in that situation and feel the feelings.

4.The affirmation must obey the 3 Ps factor.

The 3 Ps are Positive, Present Tense, and Personal.

Affirmations must be stated positively. Instead of saying “I am not fat”, say “I choose to stay slim”. The reason for this is that before the mind knows the meaning of, “I am not fat”, it must think of what fat means first. So saying that statement will inevitably lead to the feeling of being fat.

Affirmations must be in the present tense. Many books mention this. However, I only agree to some extent. If you say “I have a luxury car”, your mind will not believe you. The reason I include this here is that once it is combined with the first technique, it will work perfectly. Now say “I choose to have a luxury car”. Your mind will do its best to bring it into reality.

Affirmations must be personal. Your subconscious mind only works for you, not for others. If you say “Ann loves me”, it will not be effective, because you have no control over Ann. Now say “I choose to feel that Ann really loves me”. This time you are in control, because you can control your own feelings.

5.Personal development affirmations should be stated in the comparative

“I am confident” may not be as effective as “I am becoming more and more confident”.

An even better affirmation might be “I choose to feel more and more confident”.

The reason for using the comparative, is because there is no end to how much more confident you can become. Otherwise, your mind may think you are already confident enough, and it will not need to do any more work.

These 5 techniques are the most effective ones that I have found from my research on affirmations. If you can use all the 5 techniques, I guarantee your results will be amazing. Even if you only use one or two of the techniques stated here, you will find your affirmations will become far more effective.

I often talk about limiting beliefs or negative beliefs. There are many ways to eliminate these beliefs. One of the ways I enjoy using and find very, very effective is hypnosis. Having Fun

Today is a fun day.  I'm having a wii fit competition with Jack.  Apparently he's winning because his age is 76 and mine is only 25.  Umm!  Oh well as long as he's happy. 

We're playing board games later and taking the dog for a walk.  We might stop off at our local tapas bar for a little bite to eat and a drink.  Jack loves the park at the side. 

Then I'm watching the X-Factor.  I love seeing all those hopeful singers, Jack likes to pick out his favourite and my hubby likes to tell me how rubbish it is.  When we're not going out, saturday nights are fun meals.  I always do something where we can all help ourselves.  I'm not sure what we're having yet.  I might even send hubby for a chinese takeaway.

The point is Saturdays in our home are set aside for fun days. 

There is a very cliched saying "The family that plays together stays together."  It might be a bit corny but it's true.  Make time for your family and make time for fun.

New Method Simultaneously Reduces 6 Heart Disease Risk Factors

To Journal or Not to Journal?

Today I want to talk a little about journaling.  As a novice writter I love to write and for several years I made it a must do task to Journal at the end of the day.

3 intentions for the next day
3 intentions for life

This was my standard formula for journaling.

A little while ago I suddenly realised that this was a chore and not something I was enjoying.  But Journalling is one of the most powerful tools you can use in creating your ideal life. 

I gave this matter some thought over the next few days and decided to stop journaling, for now at least.

I now go to bed and relax into a peaceful nights sleep happily visualising my ideal life.  Since that day I have noticed a real shift in the things I am creating.  I can see my long term goals becoming a reality.

So the answer to the question 'To journal or not to journal' is this.  If it feels good to you then do it.  If it doesn't leave it alone.  Our lives change from day to day, month to month and year to year, what works for you now may not work for you this time next year.  I suggest we all take a few minutes every now and then to reassess the things we do to create our ideal life.

Book Review - Your Child Your Way by Dr. Tanya Byron

This is a 5* Parenting book


This book is probably one of the best parenting books ever written.  Many of you will remember Dr.Tanya Byron from The House of Tiny Tearaways series.

This book basically tells parents to believe in themselves and shows parents that their way is the best way.
She has a great way of explaining things and this book is, in my opinion a must buy for every parent. 

I bought this book when my own son was younger, read it, loved it and gave it to my sister, then bought it again because I loved it so much.

I was told about this book whilst training with The Law of Attraction Training Center. Now I have to admit when I first started reading this book I found it really hard work. I had to read and re-read several sentences before they made sense. As I got into the book I couldn't wait to read more and more. I can honestly tell you I have found this book amazing. I have wow moments on nearly every page.

Dr. David R. Hawkins is a renowned lecturer and expert on mental processes.

In this book he explains the difference between power and force. He explains and gives many examples of why Force only works in the short term and power is the way to great success. He talks about the levels of human consciousness and how this affects politics, the marketplace, sports, arts, health and more.

In the book we also learn how to use Kinesiology testing (muscle testing).

I personally talk a lot about raising our vibrations. This is the 2nd essential step to effectively using the law of attraction. When we raise our vibrations to over 200 we are in a positive state able to create what we want. Emotions at 200 are Courage, affirmation, empowerment.

The Secret - Part 3

Many people watch the bestselling film The Secret and it is an amazing film.  They start using the ideas in their own life.  They get very excited about what they are going to attract and... NOTHING!

It doesn't work.
This law of attraction stuff is a load of rubbish

I've heard all of the above statements and many more.

Well the law of attraction does work. 

And you can create the things you want in your life.

However almost all of us have lots of negative beliefs.  In order for the law of attraction (universe) to give you what you want you have to get rid of those negative beliefs.

You have to believe that what you want is on its way and trust the universe.

If you imagine a pathway and the thing you want is at one end of the pathway and you are at the other,  every negative belief or emotion you have is blocking the path to you. 

So let's say you're trying to attract a brand new sports car.  Wow, how exciting is that?

You enjoy the feeling of pretending you already have it and you are very clear about what sort of car you want but in the back of your mind is doubt.

I'll never get a car like that.
Yeah right, where will I ever get the money from to have a car like that.
If I was driving a car like that my friends would all be trying to get money out of me.
Guys like me don't get cars like that.

Wow!  This guys got some serious blocks. 

So what can he do to get rid of them.

He could use several techniques, such as EFT, hypnosis, visualizations, affirmations etc

You basically need to reprogram you mind in order to remove negative blocks and emotions.

It might sound hard work but it's actually not that hard to do.

The other thing to know is that we don't need to know HOW.

If you're anything like me you don't know exactly how a car works but it does.

It's the same for the law of attraction (universe) we really don't need to know how the universe will get what we want to us we just need to believe it will.

So to sum it all up we need to follow the three essential steps

1- ASK

Healthy Head To Toe

Wow, I've found a brilliant newsletter.  I signed up to receive this newsletter about a month ago and I have been really impressed.  I get lots of newsletters and I have to admit if they don't grab me in the first couple of lines I hit delete.  This newsletter is packed with really clear useful information.  They keep it short and helpful, so they obviously respect my time.

The Secret - Part 2

In the bestselling film The Secret there's a guy who is trying to attract a new car.  So he pretends he's already got the car and he's enjoying driving it.  He's imagining the noise of the car, the feel of the car.  He's totally getting the feeling of already having the car.

Now I'm not suggesting that we all sit in our living rooms and pretend we're driving our new car (although it's a great idea).  But there's a hidden secret here.  Can you spot it?
It's the FEELING.  When I talk about raising our vibrations, I'm really talking about our feelings.  If you ask the universe for a new car, a new house, a loving partner... and don't have the feeling behind that desire you won't get it.

Take a minute to imagine this scenario.  James is on his way to an important meeting.  He's stuck in traffic and he's only got ten minutes to get to the meeting on time.  James sits in his car and watches the clock, tapping nervously on the wheel.  James opens his window and leans out to see what the problem is.  Cars in front hit the horns in their cars and James does too. 

Have you got this image in your mind?  If you have you're probably not feeling to great.  So is there feeling in this scenario?

You bet there is.  James is anxious, frustrated, angry...  These are negative, horrible feelings, but they sure are feelings.  And the universe loves feelings.  The universe picks up on James feelings and sends out more of those same feeling for James to experience. 

Hmm, I have a good idea James day is not going to go well.

So if you're trying to attract a new partner into your life for example, you need to add the feeling.  How will you feel when you have your ideal partner to share your life with?  What will you do?  Look out for couples who are obviously in love and enjoying each other's company.  Take a moment to recognise them and imagine yourself in the same situation with your ideal partner.  You need to get the feeling.

A good friend of mine complained to me that she was fed up being single and wanted a man to share her life with.  I got her to get clear about the type of man she wanted to share her life with, next I asked her what she would like to do with her ideal partner.  She told me she'd like to have romantic candle lit dinners at home and then snuggle up on the sofa with a glass of wine and watch films.  She'd done all the partying and wanted a man she could just be at home with. 

After we'd talked more about what she wanted, my friend went home and cooked a beautiful meal.  She set the table and placed red rose petals and candles on the table.  She put on a beautiful dress and her best perfume.  She set the table for two people and whilst she enjoyed her meal she imagined chatting to her ideal partner.  After the meal she moved to her lounge and put a film on that was suitable for her and her ideal partner.  Instead of spreading out the full length of the sofa my friend left a space for her partner and watched the film with a nice glass of wine.  When she went to bed, she snuggled towards the middle but no further, she left room for her ideal partner.  As she fell asleep my friend gave thanks for her wonderful evening.

My friend took my advice seriously and continued to live her life as is she already had her ideal man sharing her life. 

Just over a month later my friend telephoned me and told me she'd had a couple of dates which hadn't worked out since we had last met.  She told me they were wonderful men but not her ideal man.  She then told me she'd been dating a man for two weeks and he was wonderful.  She told me she thought she'd found her ideal man.

I'm pleased to say she's still with her ideal man and very, very happy. 

So what happened?

She got really clear about what she wanted and then added the feeling.  She raised her vibrations and the universe delivered what she asked for.

In part 3, I'll be looking at allowing.  This is usually the hard part for most people.
